Google More Aggressive in Travel Business

Jakarta - Google's foray into more serious for the travel industry. This is confirmed by the action of the acquisition of the Frommer's travel guide.

Frommer's bought it from the internet giant publishing house John Wiley & Sons Inc. the value that is not mentioned.

The acquisition of the above will be the second major action in entering the business Google travel information. His first action of its own was in September last year in which Google bought the Zagat guide, renowned restaurants.

With Frommer's acquisition, Google is getting close to it with its mission to provide review-review and rating of the hotel, restaurant and other popular places.

It also opens the opportunity to reap more the coffers of the local travel industry. But that does not mean Google does not have competition.

Upon purchasing it, Google should be ready to face competition from online review sites like Yelp Inc. and TripAdvisor Inc..

"Google is moving aggressively on the realm of travel," said an analyst Herman Leung of Susquehanna International Group. Was another analyst added, "It has become Google's strategy to dominate the area," said Sameet Sinha of B. Riley & Co., as quoted by Reuters on Tuesday (14/08/2012).
